The very first restaurant/bar/disco house I ever took my cousins was in JulieAnnah, located in Kalibo's domestic airport. These days, they also have bands that play alternative, folk, and rock. It's quite a set up really. (Hi Vane! Thanks for all your help during my stay there in Aklan. I owe you one). Sorry, just a little note for a friend. Ok, were was I? Oh yeah...I remember taking my youngest cousin, Oliver (at the time). He was ecstatic with all the lights and music. Now, if you look at the second picture , the kid right in front of us is Jappy. This is his first debut with us. I think he's excited also.
Since we love to sing, we always go to AquaFresh in Tambac. I love the place because part of it is located on a river. It's a great place to be eating seafood, drinking beer, and singing. Although their karaoke doesn't start until late in the afternoon. They also charge for each person who goes in to their karaoke bar. The best thing about this place really is their fresh seafood and their mangoes. You should try this next time you're in Aklan.
There's a lot of things to do in Kalibo. You can spend the whole day looking for great buys or just stay cool inside the mall. You can choose among fresh fruits in one of the many fruit stands. The best thing that gets me most and in which I try so hard to do is to haggle with street vendors. I'm not used to haggling and this is where I practice and sometimes learn all the tactics in bargain hunting. It's really fun.
I also like bowling and so I take all my cousins to the bowling alley, I actually forgot the name of the place, but there's no need to worry because there's only one bowling place in Kalibo. You can't miss it.
There's also Agzam, the swimming place which I really don't like. Everytime I go there, they have an extremely bad bad bad service. I mean I like the place, but the service is really terrible. I'm never coming back there!!! Last August I went there and got so pissed that I took off with my cousins without paying for the food. Well, I almost did. I went back after driving about a mile or two and paid the bill. I mean, we ordered the food, but I got so upset with their service so I didn't bother waiting for the food and took off. I also felt sorry for the little rascals that was with us because they said they were hungry, so that's why I decided to pay it and then took the food. Ahhhh...never again. This is like the third time and the last for me.
There's also a place called "Lambingan beach". If you have nowhere else to go, well you can spend some time here. It's nothing compared to Boracay, but it's a good place to be in.
There's a lot of resort near the beaches of Aklan. I don't remember all of their names, but they are all accommodating and cheap. Besides, you get a wonderful view of the beach, so what can you ask for?
