I remembered strolling along the beaches of Boracay and I came across this pensive looking man.I stared at him and wondered what he was thinking about. Was he sad, lonely, happy, numbed? I didn'tknow. It wasn't until I gathered enough courage and asked him myself. This was the first time I ever went up to a stranger to ask a personal question.
For a second I thought he would get upset, but he didn't. It turned out that he was merely watching the waves and contemplating about the meaning of his own life. He said that our lives are like the waves. We have our ups and downs and we just have to learn how to cope with it. After an hour of conversing about different subjects, I found out that "dayang eaki" has cancer. I felt sorrow for this man, yet despite his condition, he said that he was ready to die and for whatever it's worth, he tried his best to capture every moment spent here on earth. He had no regrets no matter how his life turned out to be.
