A Reminder
Written by: Mel
C. Scott

In the silence hear
The whisper of the wind
Hear as it calls
As it beacons from within
Feel as the breeze blows
So gentle and freely through
Listen to the sounds
Of the soldiers fighting true

Know that the very soil
That you now walk upon
Became enriched
By  blood of soldiers dead and gone
Remember forever blood was spilt
On this land of the brave and free
Remember that even now
They still die for you and me

See that flag that flies so boldly there
As it dances in the wind
The red for blood of the valor and hardiness
Of the soldiers whom fought to win
The white for the purity and it is they that protect thee innocence
For those who know not fear

The blue stands for vigilance, perseverance, and justice
Which remains so very clear..

Know that as we enjoy
All this freedom that we have
It was the blood of a soldier
Who has allowed you what you have
As you lay in your bed
As you begin to drift asleep
Somewhere out there
Is a soldiers family who does weep

So never once forget
Or Take for granted that you are free
As you walk upon this soil
It is they who gave for thee
So stand by them and be certain
They will fight as bravely as they can
All for the freedom that We enjoy
In the United States our homeland
