| Stargate the Movie | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Daniel Jackson, an archaeologist who proposed the incredible theory that the pyramids were built thousands of years before conventional wisdom dictates, is laughed out of academia. The US Air Force takes him deep into the bowels of NORAD to look at an ancient Egyptian artifact unearthed on the Giza Plateau. He opens the Stargate which leads to the planet Abydos where the indigenous and, incredibly, human population is enslaved by the God Ra. Colonel Jack O'Neill is recalled to service to go through the gate with the team to see what's on the other side and destroy it if it poses a threat to Earth. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Stargate SG-1 | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| A year after O'Neill returned from Abydos and reported Dr. Jackson's death, a Goa'ould named Apophis, a false God of the same parasitical species as Ra, opens the Stargate. The Goa'ould are snake-like and attach themselves to the brain stem of a host human and control most of the galaxy. Jackson's Abydonian wife is taken as a host and he returns to Earth, the Tau'ri as they're known, to fight the Goa'uld with O'Neill, Major Samantha Carter the astrophysicist, a Jaffa named Teal'c, the First Prime of Apophis before he chose to side with O'Neill to over throw the Goa'ould tyranny. Dr. Janet Frasier is the chief medical officer, General George Hamond is the CO of SGC, Stargate Command. Senator Kinsey and Colonel Harry Maybourne, followed by Simmons, are human bad guys. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Stargate Atlantis | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
| Lt. Colonel John Sheppard and Dr. Elizabeth Weir lead a team of military and civilians at Stargate Command's outpost in the Pegasus Galaxy at a base called Atlantis. They fight the Wraith, a vampire like species that sucks the life-force from their victims, and spend a lot of time cut off from the SGC. Dr. Rodney MacKay, physicist, Dr. Carson Beckett, Lt. Aiden Ford, and Dr. Radek Zelenka are joined by local Teyla Emmigan in a fight for survival. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| While waiting for Daniel to finish a report for the SGC so they can have a long weekend of hot, sweaty sex, Jack gets bored. After a bit of The Sentinel on TV, Daniel tells him about fan fiction. Jack decides to write his own. This is a seriously sweet tale that develops the relationship between Jack and Daniel in a perfectly paced and beautiful way. There are a few bits that are just a bit too odd (like the SGC slashsluts) to be coincidental, but the writing and the pacing are so well done, that they're mostly overlook-able. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Jack ends up fostering an orphaned, 10-year old Daniel whose parents had been doing some translations for the SGC from Egypt before they died. This story does an excellent job of showing a surprisingly in character relationship between Jack and Daniel. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| When Daniel Jackson is killed in one reality, an evil Hammond and psychotic Jack start taking Daniels from other realities until they find the Daniel that they think is a keeper. Not-psycho Jack, regular Hammond, and people on both sides of the transdimensional mirror want to make things right, to put the Daniels back where they belong and put a stop to evil Hammond. It sounds cheesy to describe, but it's excellently written, both plot and character. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| After watching Jack murdered in front of him on one planet, Daniel and SG-1 find him, a discarded slave with a wasting sickness, on another planet. Once home, Jack has to rehabilitate and learn to live without his sight. And so must Daniel. An excellently written, character-driven story. It's also incredibly pleasing to find one story amongst what seems like all of the rest of them in every fandom I've read that has slavery without sex being involved. Kudos for not succumbing to the cliche. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||

| Jack has loved Daniel for longer than Daniel ever knew and he can't live without him, especially after Daniel begins to love him back. Then Daniel becomes a host for a newly discovered Tok-ra Queen, Meretseger, and nothing will be the same in Jack's world. Or the galaxy, for that matter, particularly when Jack and Daniel go to a planet and get cut off from the SGC. The writing is excellent, though the first two parts don't really seem all that important to the last three parts. | ||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||||
