The First Prophesy

by Raymond Henrie

Our daughter Leia was almost three years old.  She was a totally beautiful
child, with baby blond hair that hung in rivulets.  We would often be stopped by
complete strangers telling us how pretty our daughter was.
Sally and I were serving as house parents to some wild teen Indian boys at
the Laveen Indian Youth Village in Laveen, Arizona.  On our days off Sally’s
mother , Katherine, would often watch her granddaughter while Sally and I went
on a “date”.   This evening Katherine was attending a prayer meeting at a friend’s
home, and took our little girl with her.  We were to pick her up there.
When we arrived to pick up our daughter, we were invited inside.   There were
several adults gathered in the living room.  A cassette recorder was on the coffee
table in the center of the group.  We were told this had been a “prophesy”
meeting.  As we were leaving one of the men said he had a “prophesy from God”
about our daughter.
I don’t remember his exact “prophesy”, but it went like this:  “L” means this.
“E” means that.  “A” means such and such.  “H” means whatever.   Sally and I
politely thanked him and left.
As we were driving away we both burst out laughing.  Doesn’t God know how
to spell?  Our daughter’s name is spelled LEIA!
