Would you like to have a totally awesome, fun-packed day outdoors, surrounded by wonderful, happy people of all nationalities and ethnicities? If you answered "yes," to the above question, then the Sports Festival is definitely for you. Originally scheduled for September, the Sports Fest has been moved to Saturday, October 15th. We will be playing with Saitama and will make the teams once we get there. Here's the important, need-to-know info.
date: Saturday, October 15th
place: Yoyogi park
time and meeting place: 11am at Harajuku station. There is only one exit, and two doors out of the exit. One door is perpendicular to a giant street. The other door faces a bridge. Go out the door that faces the bridge, but donft walk to the bridge. Go out of the station a few steps. On your right there will be a conbini. On your left, will be people with JET sports festival signs.
price: free
what to bring: your own lunch, snacks (whatever you want to eat, drink, or share). Also, if you haven't already joined KJET and want to, you can bring your money to the event and pay for your membership there.
The grass is pretty high at Yoyogi park, so I suggest everyone bring shoes they can play and run in and not bring cleats. Not many games need them, and you may twist your ankle in the long, bumpy grass. If people don't want to bring their own food to the park, there are always vendors at the park that sell yakisoba, takoyaki, okonomiyaki, shaved ice, and beer, but at expensive prices.
For those of you who are concerned because you're not athletic, don't worry. You can sit out whatever events you want, but it's best if you play as many as you can. If you sit out, your team may be a bit short. Also, with the exception of flag football, the rest of the games are not really sports, but rather outdoor active-games that require little to no athletic ability. So, no worries.
I will send out an email soon to see who is coming and who is not so I can get an idea of how many people to expect. If you don't RSVP, and you decide later that you want to come, don't worry, you can still come, no problem. Also, bring whatever friends you want to the event as well. The more the merrier.
On a final note, PLEASE come to this event. A lot of time and work has gone into the planning and organization of the Sports Festival. It will also be a great chance to get to know people from not only the Kanagawa area, but also from Saitama. My cell phone is (080) 3461-4931. If you have any questions, (or need to RSVP, but don't have an email connection), don't hesitate to give me a call.
