This Sunday, the 27th of October 2002 has been an exciting day in LowPass, Oregon. A neighbor bought a used home in Eugene and moved it out to Amy Road, Lake Creek Valley, off OR Hwy 36. Homeowners along Hwy 36 were warned that power, etc. would be out while the house passed their area. Many hours later the house arrived in Lake Creek Valley, after providing enjoyment along the way so those not in a hurry, and frustration for those who are always in a hurry. Many people stopped at the Eat at Joe's Cafe to have breakfast and wait out the house, others followed slowing then pulled in at Joe's to recoup. Following are about half the pictures I took of the travel through Low Pass and up over the mountain and arrivial at Amy Road. We drove along the far mountain across the valley so we could look down on Lake Creek Valley and Hwy 36, Amy Road and Horton Road.

Our first view of the house as it rounds the corner to go through the community of Low Pass, Oregon.

Blachly-Lane Electric Co-op Crew lifting the lines for the three trucks transporting the house.

This is a picture of Eat at Joe's Cafe, 22527 Hwy 36, owned and operated by Joe & Nancy Weiler and Nancy's mom Marion Graham, 25 cent cup of coffee, free refills, best food for 50 miles around, good old home cooking and Marion's pies are to die for.

Just a closer view of the gang of sidewalk engineers(i.e. cusomters of Joe's) enjoying the passing parade.

Here comes the second half of the house, you can start to see the line of cars that followed the house, but both sides of the highway had the cars of the east bound travelers who were stopped to let the house come throught right down the yellow line.

This is a view of the back of the second section of the house, with some of the tree limbs it picked up on it's travel along Hwy 36. The highway was covered with leaves, little limbs and a truck followed picking up the bigger stuff.

The ROOF section and a view of LOW PASS Station & Market,22501 Hwy 36, Cheshire, Or, owned and operated by Abby & Alicia Singh; this is really a great place to stop on your way to the coast at Florence, good selection of wine, soda pop and the other things you always remember after you get on the road.

Here's the first section of the house coming down the west side of Low Pass Mountain (I don't know the real name of the Mt. everyone just says Low Pass). It's almost to it's new home.

Oh Boy! all three parts of the house in the same piece of highway, just got to get around one little corner and make the big turn at Amy Road.

This has been a long day, I(the house) hope they rest before they start putting me back together. Does any one have an aspirn?

I (the house)just wanted everyone to see what a beautiful place I'm going to call home, this is so much better than the city, so quiet, the deer will graze on my lawn, the birds singing in the morning, this is so much more than I had hoped for. Thank you family for giving me this second chance.

I hope you all have enjoyed my fun in putting this page together for you. It doesn't always rain in Oregon, this is the first of rain after many days without rain. We were almost wondering if there was going to be FALL.
Go back to the Oregon Hwy 36 Community Homepage for more happenings in the Lake Creek valley, LowPass and Hwy 36 area.
