Email from Jesse Bloom to Kirby Bloom
June 2002

Kirb,
I don't know why, but I can't get through to you guys on the phone, no matter how many times I try. Is Ezra addicted to the Internet again?
Well, anyway, I have big news. Ok...Where do I start...
I've decided to postpone recording until January next year. Don't go nuts on me, ok? I have reasons. First of all, I'm so tired. I've been working non-stop since, god, February, and remember, I'm new to this. I just want a break to get my head together before it all starts up again.
You should be glad, we can spend your whole summer together!
So tell Mum and Dad I'll be there on June 18th, see ya!
Love J.

(cut to June 25 2002 - Last day of year 11)

"One more year to go," I said to Jesse and Zac, wondering why I felt tears springing to my eyes.

"It's all happened so fast," Zac said.

"You just wait, year 12 will be over even faster," Jesse said, taking my hand and squeezing it as we left the school, bags packed with all of our books.

"I can't wait," Zac said.

I nodded in agreement. School was something I was ready to give up, despite it being the place where I'd grown up. I was ready to take what I'd learned, and leave.

Email from Kirby Bloom to Jesse Bloom
February 15 2003

I hate year 12!!! I have so much fuckin homework, it's incredible. Who do they think I am? I should be saying how glad I am that there are only four months to go until it's over, but I have exams to look forward to, remember.
The single's out next month, isn't it? I'll listen out for it, and I'll go buy all the copies from the CD shop ;)
Anyway, call me soon, and e-mail Reilly. He feels lonely.

Love you, Kirby.

Jesse Bloom
One More Time
BMG

The term 'masterpiece' springs to mind when I sample the slick sounds of Australian 19 year old Jesse Bloom's debut single. 'One More Time' is a fusion of raw guitar and the most heartfelt of lyrics since who knows when. "It's so incredible. I think I'll be giving him a call for a couple of pointers," Bono, from U2, says of the song. A commendable effort for such a new-comer. He was obviously meant to be doing this from the beginning.

Phone call between Jesse and Kirby Bloom
March 26 2003 - One week after the release of 'One More Time'

k: You have absolutely no idea how many people have asked if you're my brother
j: No way!
k: It's true! You're all over the radio, the magazines, everywhere!
j: This is so weird
k: Tell me about it
j: I'm doing the video on Friday, they won't let me put you and Reilly in it
k: Ah that's ok. When you're a huge big celebrity, they won't care what the hell you do
j: Did you see the review in Rolling Stone?
k: I framed it!
j: You did not!
k: I did, aren't I sad?
j: Nah, it's cool, it'll be good to look back on
k: It hasn't hit you yet, has it?
j: What hasn't hit me?
k: That you're a celebrity already
j: Pfft, no way
k: I bet they're already queuing up for interviews
j: I wouldn't exactly say queuing...
k: When's your first interview?
j: Next week...
k: I told you!
j: God, I wish you guys were here
k: I know...
j: And you, nearly out of year twelve. It's a huge thing, I should be there
k: Don't be like that Jess, I've got Reilly and Zac and Taylor, I'm surviving. It's you that's all on your own, I'd give anything to be there with you
j: You know, everyone's already talking about a tour this summer
k: Really? The album isn't even out yet
j: I know, that's what I said, they have a lot of faith in me. But my point is I might be seeing you pretty soon.........Kirby? Did you hear what I said?
k: Oh shit, I've gotta go Jess, I'm supposed to pick up Spencer. Sorry, bye! Love you, see ya!

(cut to March 31 2003: Jesse's 1st TV appearance)

"Press record!! Reilly!! Press it now!!"

"Ok ok, jesus!"

"The name on everybody's lips, Jesse Bloom. Who is Jesse Bloom? TRL was lucky enough to make it onto the set of the 19 year old Australian's debut music video for One More Time. The single debuted at number 4 on the charts and is rapidly approaching number 1. Our new reporter, Kerry, caught up with Jesse on the set."

"First of all, congratulations on the single!"

"Thank you! I'm really proud of it,"

The whole family screamed when Jesse's face popped up on the screen.

"So how long have you lived in the States?"

"Well I moved to Oklahoma with my family in November 2001, so we've been here for just over a year,"

"And you're liking it so far?"

"It's fantastic, it really is. America's presented me with so many opportunities that I doubt would have been available to me in Australia, so for that I'm very thankful."

"And what about your album? When is that due out?"

"Next month, it's called Trick Question, so make sure you look out for it!"

Jesse smiled at the camera and gave a big thumbs up. The reporter giggled while checking him out and the segment was over when Carson Daly flashed back onto the screen. The crowd behind Carson was cheering and even holding up signs sporting 'We Love Jesse'. It was the weirdest thing seeing Jess on MTV, but at the same time, it felt like an accomplishment, by him, by me, by all of us.

Jesse Bloom
Trick Question
BMG

Thank goodness! Australian gem, Jesse Bloom, has proved the critics tremendously wrong. His glorious debut single has been followed up by an equally glorious debut album. 'Trick Question' has debuted at number one (which is a new artists' wet dream) and has already sold 100,000 copies in its first month. It's no wonder.
'Removed' leaves its mark, as does 'Off The Ledge'. Female fans longing for the Aussie heartthrob should be satisfied with 'Drifted'. Each of the thirteen tracks feature Jesse's trademark guitar-playing that is eerily different each time, mixed with smooth bass and ingeniously integrated harmonica, sitar and flute. Jesse Bloom is the Jeff Buckley of our time, and hopefully, we'll be able to keep him for longer.
