Watching the Stars By: Hanna Solo ([email protected])

Princess Leia Organa sat in her quarters at the
Rebel base, staring out the window at the mass of stars in
front of her.  She choked back the tears as she thought of
how only a short time ago she had watched the stars with Han
as they sat together in the cockpit of the
Millenium Falcon.
She closed her eyes and thought about the first time
she and Han had kissed.  That was what she had been thinking
about as she had sat alone in the Falcon's cockpit.  Only this
time, the sound of Han sitting down beside her did not pull her
out of her reverie.
Leia had thought about how he had kissed, and gone
through a mixture of emotions.  first, she had been angry at
him for kissing her, but then that anger had faded into confusion.
How did she feel about Han?  and much to her surprise, Leia was
pretty sure she had enjoyed that kiss.  Was it possible that
she had feelings for Han besides animosity, and even stronger
than friendship?
Then he had come in to the cockpit silently, seen that
she was sitting in the pilot's chair, and, without argument, he
had sat down in the copilot's seat.  He had just sat there for a
moment, his gaze continuously bouncing from the stars to Leia.
Then, without a word, he had reached over and taken her soft,
tiny hand into his larger, callused one.  Then, the two of them
turned their attention back to the stars, as if her hand being
in his was just the way things should be.
Although neither of them spoke a word, Leia knew in that
moment that her feelings for Han Solo definitely ran stronger than
friendship, and that their relationship would never again be the
same.
Reluctantly, Leia brought her attention back to the
present.  She was alone now.  Han was gone, lost somewhere in the
vast galaxy, frozen in a block of carbonite.  Leia pulled her knees
up to her chin and stared into the cold emptiness of space.  "I will
find you, Han," she vowed to herself, "If it's the last thing I do."

The End.
