Trendy Phenomenon - 4 September 2003
First , it was SMS , then it's MMS . Yes , the MMS phenomenon has finally arrived here
at our beloved Malaysia . When DiGi ( formerly known as Mutiara Telecommunications ) launched
its MMS service early this month , it has been the latest buzzword . I'm not so sure about its popularity now , but I felt
that it's still at its infancy now . Usage costs is still blood-sucking and worst of all , you need an MMS-enabled cellphone
to fulfill the first requirement . I believed that most of the teenagers are dying to have this tech , and the first one to get this
would be proud to show off his/her gadgetry . Me ? I'm quite happy with my 3310 and it does almost what I needed most . Well , it might change
if my dad suddenly buys me a MMS-enabled phone . That's another story .
In the meantime , those MMS thingy does not give me any interest . There are so many ways to make yourself
different from the others . If they would be the one who uses MMS first before other people does , I'm thinking about mastering
Linux before other people started to put their eyes onto that OS . It's kind of fun , when you have adequate experience with it
and you have gone a step further than other people does .
Yvonne SMSed me just now . It's been a long time I didn't kept my contact with her .. . When Daniel said that people have paid less
attention to the trusty keyboard , I started to realized that , technology has gone far for many civilizations mankind has went through ,
I do admit that it became more and more powerful and eventually took away the way we live , it also made us even lazier . Now , everyone's
favourite input devices is the mouse . Joan likes the mouse . Yesterday , she rather use the On-Screen keyboard to type
than the keyboard itself . Her keyboard was broken , and she still enjoys clicking and clicking . To me , it only spells one word : Frustration .
I don't know why , but it did feels frustrating to click on the program words by words . Look at the LRT for instance . It is easier to travel
than other transportation means , but once you got dependent on it , it is hard to turn back . When I used to LRTs , it's hard for me to travel by bus
because , there are way too many types of buses and you really need a good sense of timing and direction . When I was having trouble going to Joan's place
by bus yesterday , I started to realize that I really need to learn traveling by different means of transportation ... *sighs* .
Next would be speech recognition , and then eye-tracking device ? I just wondered ,what would be the input device of the future ?
Would it be a man-made neurotransmitter implanted in our brain and tells the computer what we want by just casting imagination in our
brain ? That's freaky !!!!
ADIS 1 will be on tomorrow . Felt nervous about that paper . I've did about 95% of the prep. But I'm not sure how the questions would be ....
