If it's just you and your date, it's typical for you to drive yourselves. It is especially common for the guy to drive the girl, unless she is of legal driving age and the guy isn't. Guys, be considerate enough to clean your car (both inside and out) before picking up your date. She will appreciate it if she has a clean seat to sit in and a clean car to pull up in. Get gas before you you pick up your date. She won't want to wait at a gas station, and neither of you will want to smell like gasoline.
If you drive yourselves and don't have a nice car, borrowing a car from a relative or friend is usually an option if you've proved yourself as a responsible driver. When returning the car to the owner, fill the tank, wash the outside, and vacuum out the inside. Don't let any of your friends drive it because it will be your fault if anything happens, and accidents DO happen!

The cost might sound expensive, but it's really not that bad when you split the cost evenly between everyone.
Never get into a car when the driver has been drinking, and take the keys away from them. If your driver has been drinking and you don't have any other options, take a taxi.
