It's a smart idea to do a test run before the big night. Make sure you have everything you need ahead of time and that you know for sure how to put it all on. You can either do this yourself or go somewhere (a salon or a department store that sells makeup like Dillards) to get it done.
     Here are some tips:
Don't use lipliner. Lip gloss will make you look more your age

Using makeup that will compliment your dress will make it stand out more, which is a good thing

Use a powder or foundation that closely matches your skin to reduce shininess

Don't wear your eyeliner too thick. Get help if you can't neatly apply a thin line of it

If you wear bright red lipstick, take the tube of it with you. Check it in a mirror throughout the night, and reapply it when needed

If you go tanning, do it a week ahead to reduce the burn if there is any

If you apply fake tanning, do it a few days before so you can be sure you have it all applied evenly

Wear waterproof mascara, just incase something happens that makes you cry
