WHAT IS THE BLAIR WITCH?
I am in no way using the word "witch" as representing any group or belief. It is only used as a label to identify the entity lurking in the woods. I am not referring to any member of the Wicca religion! But I can see how the confusion exists because of their unfortunate adoption of the word "witch" despite it being most commonly used and understood as definition number one, by unenlightened townsfolk.
When I refer to "witches," I am talking about the dictionary (Hollywood Movie) definition stated below, as number one usage, which in my opinion, it has no basis in reality, whatsoever! I am sorry if this use of the word "witch" has upset anyone or if anyone thinks it is insulting to others. That is not my intention.
witch definition: 1. one that is credited with usually malignant supernatural powers; especially : a woman practicing usually black witchcraft often with the aid of a devil or familiar
Wicca definition: a religion influenced by pre-Christian beliefs and practises of western Europe that affirms the existence of supernatural power (as magic) and of both male and female deities who inhere in nature, and that emphasizes ritual observance of seasonal and life cycles
