"Feminism"
Geographic Information Systems (GIS)
This broad category includes aerial photography (picture), transportation modeling, etc. Here is a layout of a GIS of Seattle that I put together for my benefit. Some favorite links: atlas.lsu.edu - an LSU-operated website offering free digital information of Louisiana Census Tiger Data - census data in the form of Tiger files ESRI - the maker of GIS software and storehouse for data Geography Network - global community of shared information GIS Data Depot - storehouse for worldwide free GIS data Terraserver - aerial photographs and satellite images available for purchase
I do not call myself a feminist, but many would. I simply advocate the independent woman who does not excuse her faults as her "feminine curse." I also appreciate men who do not associate laundry with breasts. "Christian+Feminist" is a good site for any woman struggling with her faith and her gender. I've also run across a web site titled "Degenderfy."
Cuisine
Though it is not every night, I most often do enjoy cooking. Bill and I both like to try new things from time to time. I also get the itch to bake every now and again. There are several sites on the internet that offer a variety of recipes, including Meals.com, where you can even keep a recipe book of your favorites.
Urban Planning
Since this is the field that I intend upon pursuing a masters' degree and a career in, I think it's only fair that I mention this as one of my interests. Without the proper equipment, I cannot show you my current independent projects, but I can tell you that I am working on a project to improve traffic and parking issues on the campus of Louisiana State University, which should be done during the spring of 2002. I am also working on the beginnings of a coalition in Baton Rouge, LA, called CSBRnow, to address the sustainability of the city. I hope to be able to scan my map so that it is available for viewing here. I'd also like to note that there is a new urban forecasting software, "UrbanSim", produced by the University of Washington that is available for free download.
