A weekend camping trip down in the town of Hood River, in the Columbia River Gorge. Seemed like a good idea, and a fun way to "rough it"...until 4-6 SUV's showed up, with pasta to eat, Corona with limes, and a dinner run to Taco Bell. Truly a sad display of camping skills! Still a good time with friends though. At least we were able to laugh at ourselves for such a display.

On the way out to Hood River, we decided to take the scenic route along the Old Columbia Highway. Good thing we did, the scenery is incredible with about 4 big waterfalls along the way. |

On top of the gorge overlooking the river, this building was supposedly built in the early 1900's as a rest stop for people traveling out towards Hood River. Apparently back then the drive to just this point, before Multnomah Falls even, took hours. Today it takes about 20 minutes. |

Obviously located on the edge of the Hood River, the camping was pretty nice, with the sounds of the river all night. Then again, we couldn't hear it much over the racket of someone's Lexus "sport ute" alarm going off all night! |

Jeanie, Ally and I decided to take in a few cold beer while waiting for the others to return from kayaking. |

I got laughed at for taking this picture. I had to climb on top of my truck to get over some small bushes to get this. Turns out I was right, barely, that Mt Hood would show up in this. |

After the camping was done, we headed across the Bridge Of The Gods to Southern Washington to visit a friend at her parents place.

The Wind River in Southern Washington is not a good swimming hole, but is GREAT for salmon fishing. We saw several HUGE fish swimming about, and one guy who caught a nice sized one. |
