Journal
Day 1:

   I was given this journal
by my Mom. She knows that it is my birthday and the day i set to leave. Where am I going? EVERYWHERE! I want to explore! I can't believe the day is finally here! As a child i would always hear the travelers, (or foreigners as Daddy calls them) speak of distant, far off places. It has always appealed to me. I am so excited!
My Mother in the begining thought I would grow out of it. She had other plans for me at first. Then as she came to realize it was more than a phase she began to encourage me. (When Dad wasn't looking) Dad, on the other hand always pictured me going back to San'Doria to follow in his footsteps. Poor Daddy, he never got the heir he always wanted. So many times I watched him as he would look at the other little boys playing with their stick swords. A couple of times he even went out there and should them the "proper way to handle a sword." Then, once his back was turned the boys would go back to "handling" their swords the way they wanted. Dad's eyes always glimmered when there was talk of battles won, and you could almost see a tear when remembering the fallen ones. He taught me that no matter what, you always remember the past to prevent it from repeating. "We Elvaan, are a Noble Race", he would say... "Bring no dishonor to that." Mom loved Dad but thought he was full of it. Mom was not like the other Elvaan. She loved all things living. Her favorite was the sweet smell of the morning dew. She would wake up every morning just before dawn, open the Kitchen window and take a deep breath. She said it was the smell of the new day after the old one was washed away. Ahhh yes, there are somethings I know I will miss.
Maybe this journal wasn't such a bad idea after all. Well, I am off to the big Birthday/Going away party! ta-ta for now!
Day 2:

Today I awoke for the last time in my own bed. I had just about finished my packing when Mom called me to eat. She was noticably upset but was trying to carry on and make everything seem normal. Daddy on the other hand barely spoke two words the whole time. As I left this morning, my mind wandered to my friends and family. My heart sank to the pit of my stomache for a moment. I was really on my way. Just as I was taking in the whole situation, my best friend Melaira met me. "Just the two of us, out on the road. We can eat, sleep, and explore together!" She seemed very excited about this, and soon my thoughts of heading back home were gone and replaced with a sense of excitement for the journey ahead. Each of us brought only wht we needed. A little food for the first few days, water of course, a travel blanket for the weather, matches for the campfires, a bit of gil and our weapons. Other than the armor that we were wearing that was it.
We spent most of the day wandering around West Saru heading towards East Saru. We had hoped to reach East Saru and camp there for the night. It proved to be a touch longer than we thought, but we made it. We set up camp and began to fall asleep after eating. We were talking about Melaira's "fan club". Mel, always had all the boys swooning over her back home. And, being Mithra, she loved every minute of it. Goddess Altana forgive me, but she is such a flirt!! HEHE! Well, I am off to sleep. Gonna dream of the adventure ahead. Night!
