The Story
Our story begins in the Noble City of San'Doria, where we find Orefise's Father, Xian. Xian is getting ready for his Farewell ceremony in which he will retire and hand over his duties as Captain of the Guard to Macent. As Orefise's father sits on the side of his bed sifting thru his memories, both good and bad, Orefise's mother, Mora enters the room. She smiles down at him and says "You had better hurry, they will not take to kindly to the guest of honor showing up late." Xian, takes a deep breath as he stands and says "Me?! Captain of the Guard, late?! Perposterous! I can't be late, they can't start without me." Mora nods to Xian and then begins to hum a sweet, happy little tune.
After all, it is the day she has waited for since she first saw Xian on their wedding day. Theirs was an arranged marriage. Mora and Xian's families were two of the more well known, and respected families in the city. So, from infantcy their parents decided that this was a good match. They would keep the name, honor and respect of all. Mora, was a bit different from the other Elvaans. Elvaans by nature are a very proud people. Some might even use the terms snooty or stuck-up. This was not the case with Mora. She never hesitated to welcome all that crossed her path. It was as if her sole mission in life was to make friends with every living thing. Mora was soooooooo excited about her wedding day. It's all she had thought about for the past two years. This was to be the "Wedding for all the World." Mora had no idea who she was to marry. All she knew was that he was respected among her parents and their friends. She had no idea what being married to the Captain would mean.
Xian was groomed for the military. It seemed only natural that he would become the Captain of the Guard. Two weeks before their wedding his wish came true. The newly appointed Captain was very proud, yet nervous due to his next big hurdle.... marriage. He knew how to fight. He had already seen his fair share of beastmen and was highly decorated. But Marraige was something he knew nothing about. This scared him terribly. He always had known his enemy before going into battle. Xian had been told that his "Bride-to-Be" was from a respected family. He had been kept busy, and didn't have time to worry about things such as silly weddings. But now, it was two weeks away.
Their wedding was announced all across the San'Doria region. People gathered for 4 days and nights in preperation for the event. Flowers hung from the highest banasters and banners were made that lined all of the city streets. There was to be a small parade leading up to the front of the Chateau where the ceremony would be held. The Private Guard lined the walkway leading to the Chateau, and form an arc of swords as they walked under and to the Chateau entrance. It was the perfect fairytale wedding.
Now years later, and after many, many battles both on the field and off, it was time. Time for them. No more calls for battle. It was a bitter sweet day. Mora helped Xian put on the last piece of his Armor for the ceremony. Xian seemed to be saying goodbye to it all. He remained quiet and focused.
The ceremony was elegant and formal. Once it was over and the last shift change for the Captain had taken place there was a feast. Later that night, just before Dusk, Mora and Xian slipped away to pack their belongings. They had decided to explore some of the lands Xian had visited durring his duties. They first made their way South, to Bastok. They stopped and took time to see the windmills of the Highlands and the Waterfalls of Gustaburg.
They met lots of interesting people along the way. Mora was fascinated by them all. She had never left San'Doria. There was no need to at the time. Xian, on the other hand grumbled a lot that she was wasting her pleasantries on them. He said that the other races were not as civilized as Elvaan. Therefor they probably didn't understand her or her gestures. He said that the Tarutaru race spent more time in their books and had still not learned manners. The Mithra were a race of warriors and had no time to spend on the finer things in life. Humes and Galka were always too busy mining and fighting amongest each other to worry about outsiders.
