Aftermath

The battlefield was blacked by mortar fire and blood, the battle had raged on for two days and the Orks had finally retreated.  Field Medics scanned the area for survivors and underneath a pile of Orks and men lay Lt. Chard and Lt. Bromhead they had fought back to back against the onslaught of the green tide, now they lay lifelessly two gentlemen who fought with nothing but courage and guts.  As the field medic attempted to lifts Chards body he heard him gasp for air.  He quickly used his Narthecium to revive the Lt.  moments later Bromhead moaned, he was alive as well.  Badly injured but alive.  The two were revived on the spot.  as the lay on the desert sand, they stared at the pile of Orks that they together had killed.
We did it old man, Bromhead said, we held them off.
No Lt., Chard responded, they did, they did.  Its a bloody miracle.
If it was a miracle. Bromhead turned to gaze at the vast destruction, it was a standard pattern lasgun miracle.
With a bayonet and some courage behind it,  Chard laughed, then Bromhead chuckled along with him.
A Rifleman of 2nd Company approached Chard and Bromhead he saluted and then began his report.
Lt. Chard roll has been called Sir and we have tallied the fallen.
As you were, Corporal.  Chard barked.
Sir we are unable to locate the greenskin known as Big Toof, Sir.
What do you mean?  Bromhead asked, I stuck him down myself.  You cant bloody miss him Corporal hes the biggest bloke out here.
Yes Lt. Bromhead, but I am sorry to report that he is not among dead greenskins.  He must have escaped.
Bromhead flashed back to the battle, it was confusing, Orks were everywhere.  He saw Big Toof fall but maybe he survived his wound, retreated during all the chaos.  Cunning, yes Orks can be very cunning indeed.
