Elements of Ritual

1. TILING THE CHAMBER.

            A. Purification of the working area

                        i. By aspersions of water (mixed with salt.)

                        ii. By censing (burning of incense.)

2. LIGHT CANDLES

            A. This denotes official beginning of the Ritual. Everything after this point until                             the candles are extinguished will be considered consecrated by ritual and          

                        Therefore the word is the deed.

                        i. “Fiat Lux.” (Enter the Light.)

3. INVOCATION OF ELEMENTALS

            A. Ordination of compass points.

                        i. East South West and North..

            B. Summons Elemental Spirits

                        i. According to elements of nature (air, water, fire, and earth.)

4, INVOCATION OF MAJOR DEITIES.

            A. Makes appeal to a higher power.

5. AUTHORIZATION OF THE MAGICIAN

            A. By Rank, Degree, Affiliation.

            B. By Identification with the Higher Power.

                        i. The magician establishes his right to use the use the authority of the                                          Higher Power to command the lower spirits.

                        ii. Power assumed absolute.

                        iii. Executor of God‘s Will on the Earth Plane..

6. CHARGE TO THE SPIRIT

            A. Here the Magician explains what he wants done for him by the spirits.. He                             issues his orders.

7. BINDING WITH THE WILL

            A.. Elicits an Oath or de facto Vow from the spirits to carry out his demands.

                        i. “As My Will, So Mote It Be.”

8. LICENSE TO DEPART.

            A. The Magician thanks the spirits for their help and cooperation.

            B. Bids them to leave to complete their tasks.

            C. Return to their their natural dwelling places afterwards.

9. EXTINGUISH CANDLES.

            A. This officially closes the ritual.

                        I. (“Velat Lux.” The veiling of the Light.)

            B. Exit “temple” (or perimeter.)

            C. Put away accoutrements. Store consecrated items out of sight of the profane.                                    I. Return furniture to it’s non -ritual arrangement.
