DECLARATION OF PRINCIPLES

The Order of Chivalry has agreed on the following principles:

SECTION 1: GUILD BUSINESS

1) Only legitimate players will be allowed in the guild, as the acceptance of cheaters or hacked characters would grant an unfair advantage to those who ignore the path of righteousness, and would incite legitimate players to follow this trend.

2) Membership to the guild is divided in two basic categories:
a) The Knights: They are the only ones allowed to bear the title "Sir", thus Sir Worad, Sir Mallet or Sir Broadsword. The Knights will be divided in two categories: the Grand Knights and the Knights. For more details, click here.
b) The Squires: Historically, squires were responsible for the knight's personal equipment, but also served as apprentices. It is the latter definition that we will use. A squire is a knight in the making. He is not allowed to bear the title "Sir" until his accession to Knighthood.

3) Conditions for accession to Knighthood:
a) A squire must show teamwork, a dedication to noble goals, a rejection of evil, and learn and fully demonstrate the virtues of honour, courage, and sacrifice.
b) Squires will have the possibility of attaining knighthood after having fulfilled (a) and having spent a certain amount of time (still unspecified) playing the game.
c) Candidates for knighthood shall be reviewed by all the knights of the Order before being granted the right to bear the name "Sir". Once granted this title, the knight shall in turn have the privilege to review squires.
d) Knights may make the following judgement regarding a squire: 1) Grant him the title of Knight, with all privileges and obligations attached to it. 2) Maintain him at the level of Squire, if there is the concern that the applicant might not yet be ready for knighthood. 3) In the most extreme cases, banish him from the Order, if the applicant has blatantly violated the noble and chivalrous principles of the Order. Banishment also applies to Knights. Knights can also be degraded if the offence does not justify banishment.
e) Decisions regarding squires or banishment are taken by the majority of the Knights of the Order, excluding the Knight under review in the case of banishment or degradation.

4) The reasons for degradation or banishment are as follow: a) Failure to wear the OC tag; b) Membership to two or more guilds regardless of those guilds' stance towards each other, except in cases authorized by the Grand Knights; c) Divulgation of any password or of any secret information to an unauthorized person; d) Assumption of identity, of knighthood and/or of leadership; e) Inactivity; f) Damaging the reputation of the Order; g) Falsely duelling in the name of the Order; h) Violation of any other principle included in this declaration.

5) The Order of Chivalry shall be neutral in the different guild wars being fought at the present time. The Order shall pursue alliances so far as they constitute nothing more than a non-aggression pact. No alliance made should force us into a war. Again, no alliances should be made without the consent of the majority of the Knights of the Order. The Order is opposed to duelling but individual members may choose to do so as long as they do not claim to duel in the name of the Order.

6) All members of the Order, Knights and Squires alike, shall bear the initials "OC" before their name. As mentioned in article 4 (a), any failure to do so will lead to banishment.

7) Recruiting: Any Member of the Order can recruit new members. a) New members: New members will be required to post a comment on the "Round Table" forum in the two weeks after recruitment. That comment must include the name of the member of the Order who recruited them. Any failure to post on the forum would be found to mean that the new member is inactive, and membership would be thus cancelled. b) Members who recruit new members should also post a comment on the "Round Table" forum, send an e-mail to the Order of Chivalry address, or talk to a Grand Knight of the Order to officialize the recruitment.

8) Knighthood: There is no predetermined period of time for a Squire to become a Knight. Knights of the Order must be provided with the opportunity to see the Squire's attitude in the game. Furthermore, Squires should not ask for a Knighthood. The Knights, in all their fairness, will judge the Squire and decide if they find him worthy. Asking for a Knighthood will not hasten the process. On the contrary, any demand made by a Squire to become a Knight is often seen as suspicious by the Knights of the Order, for this attitude often implies the presence of self-interest in the applicant's behaviour, an attitude Knights of the Order are opposed to.

8) All members of the Order must be polite to any person they meet, regardless of whether that person is a member of the Order, a member of another guild, an unaffiliated person, or a newbie.

9) Members of the Order should provide assistance to newbies to the best of their capability.

SECTION 2: IN THE GAME

10) Members of the Order, while in the game, should cooperate with each other, not act selfishly or bully other players.

11) Only legitimate characters and items will be allowed. Furthermore, the only acceptable equipment or items are the ones that can be found at the point where the game is. Therefore, to make use of, for example, the Equalizer at the beginning of the game is considered inappropriate.
