| The genus Zygopetalum is made of 16 species occuring in Brazil, Peru, and other South American countries. The plant's growing habits are both epiphytes or terrestrials. This genus bears multiple fragrant, long lasting flowers. And the flowers are showy and moderately large. The orchid that I am showing below is from my collection and is named: Zygopetalum mackayi X sib. The psuedo-bulbs were oval shaped and somewhat large. The blooms had a very fragrant scent that can only be best described as "sweetly sweet." And as the blooms faded the scent became very strong and was a recognizable cinnamon scent. Come back for more updates on this orchid plant. I highly recommend the Zygopetalum to any grower. |
