Cheesy Infomercial music starts now… J

Passionate, enthusiastic, talented and determined...These are all words that describe Michelle Klaessens a.k.a Dragonorchid, a Singer, Songwriter/composer from Auckland, New Zealand.

An electrical and electronic engineer by profession (she has a Bachelor of Engineering from the well respected University of Auckland), Michelle woke up one day and decided that she wanted to become a Singer/songwriter/performer and nothing is going to stop her. This attitude of perseverance, and optimism, get iness...

"I believe in constant and never-ending improvement", says Michelle."I want to contribute something to the world and encourage people out there to passionately dream big dreams, set goals and just go for it!"

Michelle is dedicated to the profession, picking up audio engineering, sound recording and design on the side, she hopes to use her electrical and electronic Engineering skills to improve music systems design and to help other musicians/artists record, she hopes to eventually record her own stuff when she has honed her skills as an audio engineer and artist.

Michelle is currently studying the Masters of Sound Recording and Design at the University of Auckland. She has had the privilege of recording artists such as Karen Hunter, Claire Holmes, Members of The Artistry (Steph and Rebekah – also Tutors at The University of Auckland), The New Zealand Trio (practicing Live classical recording with fellow Masters students Nich Cunningham (Malvolence) and Adrian Hollay (http://www.muport.net ) Lauren Thompson, Miriam Bennet, Abe Kumin, James McGlashan, Mxim Wehi and Stephen MacIntyre (Mar Music) at the University of Auckland - she enjoys a variety of styles of music even though her greatest passion is for the Rock music genre.

More recently Michelle started up her own company “The Rock Factory – Rehearsal Space and Recording Facility” with fellow student Master’s Mark Rawstron and has recorded local New Zealand bands Exiter, Attica, Tayper and Amperzahn, whom she believes are all very talented and reflect her love of this type of music.

Michelle’s music is very pop/rock orientated, although tending towards the classic/contemporary side of music – her music can be enjoyed by people of any age. She is destined to leave her mark on the music world.

Although her demos were created by her, with keyboard sequencing as the main “tool” to get the ideas down… she believes that with the addition of real instruments (drums, guitars and backing vocals) these songs have all the hall marks of future hits. They are catchy, memorable and the lyrics can create an emotional attachment with the listener.

Michelle hopes to form a band one and start Gigging. But for the moment she’s happy and busy helping other people carve their way into the music industry by learning and trying to be the best Audio Engineer she can be. (Okay… you may now puke… cheesy aye!)
