Dear O.P. Music Alumni,
Hi there!
Another milestone for us has arrived - 25 years of working with
student musicians at O.P. - and we would like to commemorate this
event with an extra special year-end concert.  The school is also
having its 40th reunion and so our event coincides nicely since it
will be held the Thursday evening before the school's reunion weekend,
AKA June 1, 2006.
The theme for the concert is "As Time Goes By" and will focus on a
celebration of the things we have enjoyed helping students do over the
last 25 years.
Because many of you have not continued with the instruments you played
in high school, we decided to include as many as possible in a
combined band and vocal number called, "Dry Your Tears, Afrika".  It
was used in the movie, "Amistad" and is quite a moving piece without
being too difficult to bring off.  Let us know if you would like to
sing and we will get a soundtrack to you.  We will also send you a
copy of the sheet music for practising if you reply and tell us that
you are interested or if you live in the area, you can drop by and
pick one up.  This will help us all to be ready with a minimum number
of rehearsals.  Also, if your spouse/significant other would like to
sing too, that would be great.  We want to include extended alumni as
well.  We are hoping that even if you are far away and busy (and who
isn't) that it will not preclude you from joining in the fun.  If you
would like to participate as an audience member only, the concert will
begin at 7:30 p.m. and will be held in our own gym where so many of
our previous concerts were performed.
Now for the part we need your help for:
*Many of you have moved and possibly changed e-mail addresses since
the last reunion concert in 2000, so if you receive this and have
contact info for other alumni, we would appreciate it if you would
pass this along with the attachment and then let us know whom you have
contacted and give them our e-mail address.
*We are planning to include some visuals at this concert and would
appreciate receiving digital files of photographs taken while you were
in high school.  We are particularly interested in shots involving
activities such as trips, fund raisers, concerts, special events but
if you have a photo you think is unique, please send it even if it
doesn't fit into one of these areas.
If you are still in shape on your instrument and have a passion to
play in a piece as well, let us know and we will see if we can include
that aspect as well.
On Sat. June 3 we are organizing a Swing Dance social and competition
(for the serious dancers) with alumnist Kathy Penner taking the point
in organizing and the Stage Band providing some of the music.  Let us
know if this tickles your fancy too!
***Lastly, please direct your e-mail replies to:
[email protected]
We hope to hear from you soon.
Warmest Regards, W. & D. Young
