| In 1970, Keiko was captured in Iceland when he was two years old. He was taken to a small tank in Mexico City. He starred in the movie Free Willy. After it was filmed, Keiko was moved to a big tank at Oregon Coast Aquarium. He then became unhealthy and it was decided that Keiko should be freed. In September 1998, Keiko was taken back to Iceland where he had been gone for 20 years. It was a journey of 8,630 miles from Oregon Coast Aquarium to Iceland in a C-17 Globemaster III. Keiko was held in a pen in Iceland. Some of his relatives were spotted nearby. In August, Keiko had been freed! |
