Sealand's trainers did not enter the water with the killer whales. On February 21, 1991, a 20 year old trainer (Keltie Byrne) slipped into the tank. Tillikum took Byrne by the leg and dragged her to the center of the pool. Haida2 and Nootka4 joined him and they drowned her. The reason why they drowned her was the fact that they were trying to play with her. They likd the trainers in the tank, but Sealand's trainers didn't enter the water with them. It was obviously an accident, but it convinced Sealand to close. |
