Kim2 was captured in October 1982 in Iceland, with a female named, Freya. Kim2 and Freya were sent to Marineland France. In October of 1989, two orcas, a male, Tanouk/Yamato and a female, Sharkane were captured from Iceland and sent to Marineland France, as a pair and companions for Kim2 and Freya. In March of 1991, Freya had a still-born. On February 25, 1993, Sharkane gave birth to Shouka (who lives at Six Flags Ohio, since May 20, 2002) a female. She became the 1st orca to be successfully born and survie at Marineland France. In March of the same year Freya had another still-born. On the February 14, 1996, Freya gave birth to a male orca named Valentin, who is her 1st calf and only to surive. The reason why Freya might be having still borns is that, Kim2 and Freya came from the same pod and might be related. Kim has cired all the claves at Marineland France. On February 23, 1999, Sharkane gave birth to a male orca named, Inouk. In March of 2001, Freya had yet another still-born. On June 1, 2001, Sharkane gave birth again, to a female named, Wiki.
What he looks like:
Kim2 is an Icelandic male bull orca. He is very easily recognized because he is the largest whale at Marineland France, also his dorsal fin is completely flopped over to the right, (which is very rare for any captive orca for it's fin be to be flopped over to the right), and he has a notch on his right fluke. He is 22.7 feet long and weighs in at 10,500 pounds (2001).
Personality
Kim2 appears to be very decal animal and will try over and over the same trick for his trainers, until he thinks they are completely satisfied. He rarely refuses a trick or miscues during the show, although since he moved to a new tank he has been having trouble sliding out, and staying on it. He doesn't like being cooped up in the smaller back tanks, (you can't blame him for that, he is a huge orca and needs room) and will slap his tail repeatedly on the surface of the water, to show he is fustrated. Because of this he is usually kept in the main show tank, where he has plenty of room to swim (but it will never be enough room for him). Kim2 is dominated by Sharkane (she is the dominat whale and Manrineland) and Freya, both are females. In an orca pod, males usually have a low rank. Kim2 vocalizes when his trainers brush his teeth. That means he loves it, he also loves injections. His trainers started doing water works with him on June 2000.
