Kandu7
History:

Kand7 waas captured on November 1984 in Iceland, with 4 other orcas
Junior, Freyja/Patty , no name and Thor. Only Kandu7 and Thor survied. Kandu7 is the only mature male orca in Canda. He has fathered all the calves born at Marineland Canada. Splash (Lives in Sea World California, Since April of 1992), born in August 15, 1989 to Nootka5. He also is the the dad of Neocia (she lives in the King Waldorf's Theater tank, alone), born October 21, 1992, daughter of Nootka5 too, Hudson, born September 15, 1998 to Kiska. Kandu7 has also fathered calves that are dead now. Kanuck (mother Kiska): 1994-1998, Malik (mother Nootka5): 1996- 2000, Nova (mother Kiska): 1996-2001, Algonquin (mother Nootka5): 1999-2002. He did shows for several years at the King Waldorf's Theater. He is at the Friendship Cove, since it open in 1998, he's a retired preformer. Frequently, he is separted from the females and their calves. When he is spearted from them he is in the back pool of the Friendship Cove. It seems that when Kandu7 is with the other orcas, he and Kiska are always togther and that gets Nootka5 jealous. The trainers separate Kandu7, because they don't want a fight to happen between them. He's rarely used in shows at the Friendship Cove. Also, He is not used during the petting sessions.

What does he look like:

21 year old Kandu7 (nicknamed "Du" by his trainers) is the longest (or tallest) in captivity throughout the world. He is 23.5 feet long and weighs 10,500 pounds (2001). He is very easy to identify because of his dorsal fin is flopped over to the left side, his flukes are curled (like all adult male orcas), but Kandu7's
right fluke is curled more then the left. He is the biggest orca at Marineland Canada He has a brown line, stain on the right side of his chin and he has a black spot between his pectorl fins. Another way to identify him is his teeth. On the right side, all his teeth are worn down, but on left side of his mouth his teeth they are not completely all worn down. Kandu7's eyes are brown.

Personality:

Kandu7 is not a very active whale, most of the time he spends resting on the surface of the water, but he is more active during the winter, he swims more often. He likes to "hang out" in the middle of the pool at the surface away from everyone. Kandu7 is not an aggressive whale at all with the calves, he lets them play around him. Kandu7 is a relaxed orca, he's just not very active. One whale who would make him play was Malik, His daughter (which she dadly passed away in the March of 2000). Comparing to his massive size, he is really gentle, towards everyone, even his trainers.
