| Well, you've found it. My little 10-step clinic for those trying to turn their posts from this: She came in the hall. Everyone looked over. She was beautiful. She wanted a horse and a friend. She was named ______ to this: With a swirl of emerald fabric a figure of dark, almost surreal beauty and silent mystery entered the hall, her captivating looks and fluid comanding of grace calling the attention of men and women alike. Tresses of ebon hue spilling onto ivory shoulders, azure eyes framed in tasteful make-up, body bedecked in a dress of emerald silk and satin that clung to her curves. A slight smile played across crimson lips as her dancing glacier eyes searched the gathered nobility, seeking a friend and a four legged compainon to call her own. Her name lay softly on her lips; _______- or maybe not THAT drastic a change, but maybe you'll learn something and it'll help your game. Here are few simple rules that will help you on your rpging road to glory. 1) use 'S' not z, this is NOT a chat room, instead of eyez, spell it right. Spell check your posts. Its really easy, open word on your desktop, ctrl-c your post into it and spell check it. It will make other players respect you, and make it easier to understand you. 2)Spell out the words, You instead of U, are instead of R, again, this is NOT a chat room. 3) Use normal punctuation. 4)Basically, write as if you were writing a novel, or a short story, normal grammer, normal spelling, ect. 5)Describe, Describe, describe! The more you explain the more the other character can work with you, and thus the better your interactions, thus better your game. 6) Use a varity of words, not just the same one over and over, beauty can be replaced with cpativting looks, twinkling eyes can be replaced with dancing, black can be replaced with raven, ect. 7) Use a constant format for your posts. Its more professional that way. So, say your character "Alisha" posts with her words in quote marks like so; I move around and talk " blah blah blah" and your other character "Tom" uses dashes - tom moves and talks - blah blah blah-, they both are good formats, but keep them constant. Dont make tom suddenly switch to Alisha's format or vice versa. 8) Find a picture. Even if you don't post it, use it to help you describe and get a firm idea of your character. Google is a good place to find pictures of almost anything. Webshots.com works as well. 9) Read advanced player's posts. It will help, I promise! 10)Using latin, as you see done in some very advanced rps is great, but please, PLEASE make sure you know what you're saying. There are many "dictonaries" that tell you what the common rp meaning of something is. Just throwing a latin word in randomly will not help your posting. Also, if you knwo all teh proper latin terms, please don't over-use them. It makes your post hard to read and difficult to understand. Part 2 - basic helps: Part two of this little shindig is a help in basic html. Not even up to tables. Inserting pictures, changing font color, size, bold, italic, underline, links ect. Part 3- Latin Dictionary Part three is a guide to the aformentioned latin. It has the common rp meanings for latin words you would use in your posts. Part 4- RP "school" Part four is a "school" to improve your rping. Its not as bad as it sounds. A single message board with forum rpers who have played for upwards of 5 years (they're nice) helping newbies or intermediate players get better. They're here to help! |
