| Orkhelek |
| "Land of Ice" |
| Orkhelek, the Land of Ice, is just that: an entire continent of nothing but ice and snow. Savage icewinds and snowstorms ravage the continent at any given time. They come, and they go. No reason or explanation, for the weather could be perfectly calm right up until one of these horrific storms happen. People have been swallowed up by the winds.
There has been mention, by those who have explored this place, of a Kingdom which resides upon this continent; of a Castle there which is made entirely of ice and crystal. It sparkles like a jewel in the sun, glittering from every point and every aspect. Almost blindingly so, at times. Who, or what exactly, lives there . . . no one is certain. But, there has been talk of large ape-like creatures which inhabit the continent, and the castle. These creatures are anywhere between 7-9 feet tall, pure white, and look like a cross between human and ape. Those who have managed to come across and speak with one or two of these creatures, claim they are highly intelligent and fairly benevolent . . . But, then again, some of these people who have returned from Orkhelek have also been mad from the cold. Sill, in some stories, they are fairly benevolent. There have, however, been rumors of these creatures participating in a war centuries past. But a war with who no one can say, because no one knows. And I highly doubt the Ape-Creatures are speaking of it. Who is to say what is real and what isn't? For example: Those who have managed to return, without having been touched by madness, tell stories of a crystal lake. This may not seem all that strange, save for the fact that the stories tell of it moving. It will disappear from one place, and reappear in another. No one knows anything about this lake, for whenever someone approaches, it vanishes like a mirage in the hot sun. Only time, and perhaps luck, will tell what resides within this lake . . . if anything. Again, I give this advice to you: If you decide to travel and explore Orkhelek, proceed with caution. If the beasts don't finish you off, the cold certainly will. |
