lyrics - no name
< ------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------->
i have been writing songs for yrs, but a few mos ago my computer crashed & i lost all but 2 songs. so i'm starting from square 1...
I call you up on the telephone,
but even if you answer, I know your not home.
It sounds like your voice on the other end,
But its not the person that I used to call my friend.
We talk bout the weather; and we talk about the war,
but both of us know thats not what I called for.
You must know whats coming, mustve seen the clues,
yet I try to be gentle with the words I choose to use.
I couldnt hear the tears as they ran down your face,
but I didnt need to, I know you too well.
They washed off your cheeks and hoped to erase
all the pain that I caused you as they fell.
Do u realize that this is the end?
I guess you dont- you just try to pretend
that your fears and reality did not just collide,
but theres pain in your voice that you just cannot hide.
I couldn't hear the tears as they ran down your face,
but I didn't need to, I know you too well.
They washed of your cheeks and hoped to erase
all the pain that I caused you as they fell
I found it in the mailbox today.
I know exactly what its going to say.
Should I open it, or should I let it be?
What does that envelope have in store for me?
There is no stamp, no sign of thirty-three cent.
It was hand delivered, that is evident.
I break the seal & I unfold the note.
The words are smeared: the ones you cried as you wrote.
I couldn't see the tears as they ran down your face,
but I didn't need to, I know you too well.
They washed of your cheeks and hoped to erase
all the pain that I caused you as they fell
