It is always a cause for celebration when a fervent dog lover is won over to our side. Sarah E, although never a hater of cats, was and is always faithful to her beloved Woofy. Circumstances conspired against her however, when she moved out of her parents' abode. A stray bundle of feline fluff landed on her back porch and is now a member of the family.
This issue's final thought is dedicated to Sarah E and her quest to find a name for her little mooshka who is settling in nicely and finding her place as queen of the household. The name issue has been a source of quite consternation, for as in the words of the immortal T.S. Eliot "a cat needs a name that's particular, a name that's peculiar, and more dignified... else how can he keep up his tail perpendicular, or spread out his whiskers, or cherish his pride?"
When the right name comes, it feels right. Otherwise my own Mina would have been called Pheobe or Willow. Both of those names were quite nice, but just didn't suit her. When Mina came to mind, it was as if a Greek god was whispering in my ear. What Oprah would proclaim "a lightbulb moment".
Sarah E, the right name will come. Until then, catboy musings welcomes the nameless one to our ranks. We'll keep you posted. And don't worry, Woofy, she still loves you too.
