Football season a success despite missing the playoffs

December 21, 1999The Trojan football team had a successful season this year, accomplishing many goals and obtaining a winning record of 5-4 for the first time since 1995.
East went into their last game with the chance of a playoff birth hanging at their shoulders. They got the necessary win, however, the teams that needed to lose for the Trojans to get into the post-season action also went away victorious.
"The football season was successful, but we didn't achieve the ultimate playoff goal," said Eugene Thomas.
Several Trojans were recognized for their outstanding performances on the field this year. Russell Dixon, Eugene Thomas, Bryan Curran, Tim Bruno, Joe McCraney, and BJ Mosley were named All-Metro. Curran, McCraney, and Mosley were first team All-Conference, while Dixon, Thomas and Bruno were second team. Bruno led the conference in interceptions this season.
