Question:

Running volume tests on an application built using Oracle 8.0.5 on
Solaris 2.6 and getting the error ORA-12542 : "TNS:address already in
use" after the system has been running for about 3 hours.  At this
point, the connection to the server gets dropped.

I don't understand why this is happening 3 hours in to the run - and it
is not all connections that get refused, only happens intermittently.

Any ideas?

Can you post more detail about this?  Turn on tracing for your listener
and see what the trace file says right before the connection to the server
gets dropped.  Also check your sqlnet.log files on the client side, etc.
