SQL*NET vs Net8 for Oracle8

Is there any reason to use SQL*NET V2  with Oracle 8  instead of NET8.
We are running 7.3.3 with SQL*NET V2 ( DEC Alpha & Digital Unix 4.x on
server )  Windows 95 on  clients.  We will soon buy some new software (
Developer
2000 or Power Builder front end ) and will upgrade the server to Oracle
8.  Are there
any problems with NET 8 or is it reasonable to upgrade everything to the
latest.
None of the existing software or datbase will be used.  The only reason
I ask is
that someone I spoke with mentioned they upgraded to Oracle 8 but kept
the old SQL*NET V2 for some reason I can't remember.
We will also be using Developer 2000 on this new database.

Any input would help us decide.  We are leaning towards using all ver 8
stuff.

Also we are only using about 10 -15 concurrent users and we will
probably
choose TNSNAMES instead of Names Server.

We've not had any problems with Net8.  Sometimes people will keep
SQL*Net 2 around on client machines because there may be users who need
to access different databases with differing versions of the listener.
Or, there may be a product that specifically requires SQL*Net2 (I don't
know of any offhand).  I think all-in-all, Net8 is a bit more efficient
than SQL*Net 2.

I think in your situation you'd be safe to just use Net8.
