We need our guns, because if we don't have them, those guarantees in the constitution aren't worth squat. Any unarmed people is either an enslaved people or one vulnerable to slavery at any time. In Germany Hitler instituted gun registration, then they hunted down all the registered guns and took them, and we know where that led.
