| Born: Unknown. Probably 1855. Born to Darkness: 1890 Key relationships: Lover of Dru. Enemy of Angel. A unofficial member of the "Scooby gang." Potential lover for Buffy. Current status: Spike is in Sunnydale, heartbroken over Buffy's death. First appearance: "School Hard." ( Buffy Season 2) Spike was a shy, awkward, Willow-like poet in 1890 London. He was known as "William the bloody" because he was a "bloody awful" poet. After Cecily, the woman he loved, told him that he was beneath her, he ran into the London streets crying and he ran into Dru. Dru turned him into a Vampire and he slowly became known as "Spike" because he drove railroad spikes through his victims. After Angel was "Souled," Spike became the lead male of Darla and Dru's little crew. He then killed a Slayer during the Boxer Rebellion. After that he travelled with Drusilla and they eventually came to Sunnydale in 1997 after Dru was nearly killed by an angry mob. Spike's goals in Sunnydale were to kill Buffy and to bring Dru's strength back. Spike drained Angel of some of his life energy and he gave it to Dru and Dru became powerful again. Spike was temporarely crippled during a scuffle with Buffy when she came to rescue Angel and he (Spike,) was put in a wheel chair for a while. At the end of that season (season two,) Spike regained enough strength to walk again and he teamed up with Buffy to defeat Angelus. (He hated Angelus because he felt that Drusilla was growing too fond of him.) He then took Drusilla away and she ended up leaving him. After she left him he came back to Sunnydale heartbroken. He came to Willow and he forced her to create a love spell that he could use on Dru. She refused and he decided that he could make Dru love him without any spell. He then went back to Drusilla and he forced her into loving him again. Eventually she cheated on him and he came back to Sunnydale to steal a gem that would give him the power to walk in the sun and be invincible. With the help of some Vamp miners, Spike found the gem and he fought Buffy with it. Buffy stole the gem back and Spike fled. Spike stayed in Sunnydale to destroy Buffy for revenge but he was captured by the Initiative. The Initiative put a anti-violence chip in his head and the chip forced him to stop hurting the innocent. Spike came to Buffy for help and they made a deal. The Scooby gang gave him a place to stay (Giles apartment and Xander's house,) and blood as long as he gave them Demon info. Eventually he tried to make a secret deal with Adam but he was exposed and Adam was defeated. For some reason they still kept him around after that, (Maybe it was his handsome charm,) and he still worked for them from time to time. They loathed him but they kept him around. Spike worked for the gang in season five and he was eventually thrown out of the gang after he captured Buffy in "Crush," but they eventually re-admitted him into the gang after he nearly sacrificed his life to keep Dawn's secret from Glory in "Intervention." He is currently in Sunnydale and he is shattered from the loss fo Buffy, the one he loved more than anything. Spike is played by James Marsters. Marsters has appeared in "Northern Exposure," "Millenium," and "The House on Haunted Hill." Click here to see Spike's Pictures. |
