Innocence

Innocence takes place the day after "Surprise" and it aired the day after Surprise. In Surprise Angel loses his soul after his one moment of pure joy with Buffy. He becomes Angelus again and he kills a woman. He then  joins forces with Spike and he tells Buffy that his night with her meant nothing to him. That breaks her heart and she thinks that Angel hates her until she realizes that he is now Angelus. Jenny Calendar tells Buffy that Angel lost  his soul because of his moment of pure joy with Buffy and she tells her about the other side of his curse. Buffy becomes angry with Jenny and she realizes that she now must become enemies with Angel. She also finds out that she can only destroy the Judge if she seperates his body parts completely. With Xander's help she secures a rocket launcher that she uses to shatter the Judge into billions of gory little pieces. After this she fights Angelus again and she realizes that she doesn't have the will power to destroy him yet.

This episode was tragic, touching, and sad. After we Buffy/Angel fans were finally given the chance to see them make love we were forced to watch him become Angelus and we learned about the major problem with Angel's curse. We were also introduced to Angelus for the first time and we were able to witness the cruelty in him that Giles described a season before. At the end of Innocence we were introduced to a new evil threat and we were robbed of our kind and tragic hero Angel.  These things make Innocence one of the best episodes of Buffy. If you still think that "Hush" is the best episode of Buffy I have to really question your Buffy sanity.
