Mr. Chan: Thanks for getting back to me, and sorry about the conufusion earlier. Here's my situation: I'm planning to start law school in the fall of 2004. Since I have some time until then, I'm looking for a volunteer or paid position that would offer (1) some exposure to the legal world and (2) a chance to use my Chinese (Mandarin) in a professional setting. Thus, I write in hopes that you or someone you know might be able to direct me to any such opportunity. I've just attempted to attach a brief version of my resume, but for some reason it won't upload. Still, a detailed version and some writing samples may be found on the web at: http://www.geocities.com/optimistgarage/resume.html Here I'll mention only that I have a strong background in writing and would be useful for writing, editing and proofreading documents. In the mid 1980s, I worked as a file clerk and, later, a legal assistanct for a large DC law firm. As a former programmer, this current effort represents a career change for me. I picked up Mandarin and I.T. while in the Navy, which I left in 1998 to become a computer programmer in St. Louis, Mo. Sadly, I was one of many programmers laid off in recent years. A few months ago my wife (who is Chinese) and I moved to Atlanta, where she works as a microbiologist while I prepare for law school. I would look forward to meeting you and learning more about your work. Best Regards, Bill St.John 404 321 6964
