How To Wash A Primary Mirror

1. This shouldn�t be performed more often then yearly.

2. Pre rinse the mirror in fast running tap water to loosen crud and grit.

3. Soak the mirror in pan of lukewarm tap water with 2 drops of dish detergent and a cap full of ethanol for 30 minutes, or longer if necessary.

4. Rinse the mirror in fast running tap water.

5. Inspect, many mirrors are done now. If so, skip to step #9.

6. Return the mirror to the pan after replacing the water, detergent, and ethanol.

7. Lightly wipe the surface of the mirror with cotton or fingertips.

8. Rinse the mirror again under fast running tap water.

9. Inspect the mirror, it�s probably as good as it�s going to get.

10. Rinse the mirror in distilled water.

11. Blow water droplets off with compressed air if possible.

12. Absorb remaining surface droplets with the corner of a tissue, but do not wipe. Allow the mirror time to air dry. Small remaining water spots cause no harm.
