In tribute to the Opry

Having been a fan of the Grand Ole Opry since the age of 9 has been a true blessing to me and a comfort throughout all of my life. My hero was Roy Acuff, and I met him when I was a teenager. I also have met many of the people that have made the Grand Ole Opry the great show it became. Though I have been disillusioned more and more by the change to a rock and roll image that the Grand Ole Opry signifies (both in management's attitudes and in the stage presence of the show), I hold to the values I saw backstage during my early years there, to the friendships I have gained in twenty-plus years of contact with the Opry, and to the traditional values the Opry signified from the beginning. Though I am not out to villainize anyone, I stand for what is true and right, and for the purity of the music that Roy Acuff, Bill Monroe, Hank Snow, and Grandpa Jones (to name a few) stood for until the day they died. I will continue to play and promote the music as much as God will allow me to and to bring back the old spirit most of these new people have all but destroyed and denied.

I am a part of the MSN Kountry Music Korner Group and will remain so as long as it stands. I urge and invite each of you that love true country music and want to learn the truth about the history of country music to visit us on that site. We'll be glad to have you - stay as long as you'd like.
