Yesterday Meanings
Such maddening fate,
O why must it be
Thoughts lucid and free
Must struggle for life
Through carious words?
Quick! A look within
The lightning's swift
flash--
For a glimpse beyond--
One fleeting moment
Ascends day's endless
Dark, pond'ring nights.
A struggle for words,
Of language deficient
Through eyes of the mind
With futile attempt
Their sights to express,
Tho one step beyond
Ears veiled with the film
Of yesterdays stale.
Like a suckling babe
Blindly seeks comfort
Of heartbeats familiar,
What's known brings comfort
As evolution,
Unseen, passes by.
Intoxicating,
Delirious thoughts,
Discover foreign
Their native tongue,
Ambushed in useless
Yesterday meanings.
O, cursed torment,
With my mind ablaze,
Speechless and speaking
To ears hearing words
Crumbling, faltering
In familiarity.
Anguished songs, pleading,
Sing in the shadows
As they fall deafened
Upon ears unknowing
To the sounds
Of my music.
