Winter Song
Winter sun, sneaking early
onto September
window sills
bringing with you
the shiver of
winter chills
sends us scrambling
for
our hats, gloves,
and winter coats
but dauntless my
spirit by,
nor do i mope
for his eyes
shine upon
my once lonely
and cheerless world
like your summer
brightness
in warm breezes
swirl.
This gentle countenance
brings to my heart's
dreary sight
like your
brightest rays
of warmth,
mirth, and delight.
Nay, it is summer enough
through all the
winters long
for a heart to
sing,
so i'll sing your winter song
when tightly, and
so gently,
he holds me
close to his chest.
how could i not sing to savor
his touch with
such elatedness!
