Waiting and Knowing
A name
A face
Some
words spoken.
A day
A week
Some
months before it happens again.
A smile
A nod
Just
small talk between us.
I saw you again.
I watched
I stammered
A
sentence or two.
The days
The nights
I so carefully plan
The words
The questions
When
I see you once more.
They don't come.
They freeze in mid air
Written in my breath
For
the wind to read.
A blush passes
Through
my eyes.
A thump pounds in my ears.
Convention keeps me
From
speaking.
Fear holds me at bay.
But I've waited
And I know that
What you see is wrong.
But I wonder
As I watch to see
If I
am right.
