To George
I take the time here
For a reflection or two,
For such pleasures there are
And yet I never knew.
A child at the beginning
Needs
patience and understanding to grow.
This you gave to me even though
My childhood was long ago.
My life was an ocean
Too
deep and too vast.
I let the waves roll over me,
Waiting
for the biggest splash.
You quietly showed me
Of the futility,
That true pleasures of life
Come with simple humility.
One must learn to slow the pace,
It's really quite simple,
To absorb the intensity
Of
even the tiniest ripple.
As I learn from day to day
The joys of knowing,
It will be to you I'll smile
With
grateful owing.
