Slumber Against Will
Sleep surrounds me
And pulls like quicksand
At my consciousness
To
swamp my senses.
I fight my eyes
Not to acquiesce
For once shut, my thoughts
Slip into limbo.
My flesh desires
No resistance either
For it also longs
To
be at peace.
The battle rages
As the silence of
Darkness shines its
Light
on loneliness.
It is in the still
Where I cannot hide
From the reality
Of
my life.
