Seeing New Eyes
Piercing blue eyes
Looking upon the world
And me.
Eyes I saw in another time
But blurred by visions
Inside
my own myopic heart.
Intent with the love and desire
Of another.
I squandered time
Chasing dreams and illusions
Blind to realities
Adjusting
my own
To fit those created.
Thoughtful blue eyes
To look upon the first time
Again
I watch intently now
With the clarity of an open heart
Sharpened by the wisdom
Of
experience.
Soft blue eyes
Looking upon me now
And
I see.
Seeing new eyes again
And what I discover
Are my own.
