Reaching Out
Strong winds pounding against
The
silence of early morning.
The sun struggles to disturb
The
blackened night sky.
One-by-one a sun's ray
Douses the light of stars
As they disappear
Into
the spreading dawn.
Following the moon
Top this secluded spot
She's drawn like gravity
To a
presence not there.
One-by-one she views
The pictures in her
Memories book
Gathered
in happier times.
Waiting, watching, listening
To time passing,
Struggling with the need
To
see his face again.
Even certain rejection
Cannot still the voice
Inside that cries out
"I
love you.
I miss you.
I need you."
Something in death
Touches upon life
And in the loss
Of a loved one
She realized even more
How difficult to taste
The nectar of life
Through
its jagged thorns.
She must always
Reach out to touch,
To caress and nurture
The beauty she finds.
And even in agony
To say, "I care"
And in darkness
To shine a light:
A light of love.
