Metal Tube Life
Metal tube existence---
Collapsed nucleus on strands of life.
Magnetic polarity reflection
Of eyes seeing other life.
Embrace the wall---
Don't let it fall---
It deflects the scream
Raging inside.
The mind imprisons
All
The heart---
The only escape
Black-sooted feelings
Close the doors.
That mind never woke
To search the dream
Those eyes never moved
To touch the music
That mouth never tasted
More than food
Those hands never felt
Sinew and power
Marrow and breath
Those feet never stepped
Upon its own dust
That soul never looked
Outside the eyes that see in
Rivets and screws
Wires and blood
Forever walking into
The way it came
Pulling back
Wrenching dead screams
That strike fires
Inside the brain
A sweat of ice
Scalds the skin
And stokes the fire,
Lifeless surface.
Human life stirs
Within the clutch
Of strangling breath
Push it aside----
It must not speak---
It must not know it lives.
Just see the man.
He'll tell the truths
That never live
He holds the mirror
Of painted reflections
He drops the life
Down the dark abyss
Through hollow tubes
Through metal veins
Which flows his life.
