Memory Gazing
The evening's late
But I'm into you most
When
it's quiet.
The temptation to call is strong,
But your thoughts
Aren't where mine are.
The thought is pleasant
To project feelings
Over a phone
But have you ever noticed
Arctic breezes carry voices
Through
phone wires?
I restrain the impulse to call
But I go on thinking.
I
see you smiling.
I
see you moving in frames
Captured by my memory.
Then I fantasize you
In activities that
Make up your life
(Even though
I haven't been there.)
Reality recaptures me.
