Here and Now
Yesterday I hated the color green
Because when I was sick
That was the color of
The
sheets on my bed.
Today I laid
down
In the coolness of the grass
To watch the birds building
Their
nests in the trees.
Yesterday I cursed the rocks
That I tripped on
And cut my leg
As I
climbed the hill.
Today I lingered
In the shade of
An old cave as
The sun burned the Earth.
Yesterday the waters
Almost took from me
My breath before my sister
Drug me ashore.
Today a boat brings
My
love to me.
The child of my mind wanted
Lessons in black and white
But your face is pink
And your eyes are blue.
Your smile is sunshine
To a
darkened room.
I know you, too,
In the gray
Of a sullen mood
And
the red of a rage.
There are no answers
To fit like pieces
Of a
puzzle.
Truth is what is
Important
today.
It fits in only
Here and now.
